For approximately two years, ColourPop has been making waves in the beauty industry, establishing its products as essentials for many makeup enthusiasts. The buzz around ColourPop is palpable, with countless users falling for their offerings, including myself. Having tried ColourPop’s Ultra Matte liquid lipsticks and Lippie Stix, I quickly developed a fondness for them. Inspired by Kathleen Lights, a well-known YouTube beauty guru and her endorsement of the ColourPop Highlighter in Wisp as her Holy Grail highlighter, I felt compelled to give it a try. Below is a comprehensive review of ColourPop’s Highlighter in Wisp.

The packaging of the ColourPop Highlighter in Wisp is distinctive, featuring a white plastic container with a transparent lid, setting it apart from the standard black cases of typical makeup brands. The design feels durable and resistant to breakage, although the printed lettering on the lid can fade over time. Keep in mind that this product is not the most travel-friendly, so exercise caution when packing it for trips.

The consistency of the ColourPop Highlighter in Wisp is notably unique. Its mousse-like texture feels incredibly soft, allowing for effortless application on the cheeks that results in a more blended finish compared to traditional powder highlighters. Wisp is a gorgeous Champagne Gold highlighter that features tiny shimmer particles. It leans slightly bronzy, making it particularly flattering for medium to deeper skin tones, while light to medium skin tones can still wear it effectively with a light touch.

To preserve its mousse-like consistency, ColourPop suggests securely closing the lid after each use. Due to the formula’s uniqueness, they recommend applying it with your fingers, which I find to be the most effective method for application. Alternatively, it can also be used with a damp beauty sponge or a synthetic brush. Since the shade is somewhat deeper for my light to medium complexion, I apply it sparingly and blend thoroughly.

This highlighter does not draw attention to pores, providing a naturally radiant look on the skin. The affordability of this product contributes to the growing popularity of ColourPop’s offerings. Additionally, the highlighter holds up well for around 8 to 10 hours on my skin, leaving behind subtle shimmer even after fading. Many users and swatches online suggest that it serves as an excellent dupe for Becca Cosmetics’ Opal highlighter. While I have yet to try Opal, I’ll include some Google swatches for you to compare.
