The claims made by Rimmel for their Stay Matte Pressed Powder include:
“It offers up to five hours of natural shine control powered by natural minerals. It aids in minimizing the look of pores and is dermatologically tested.”
Encased in simple beige plastic with a transparent lid, the packaging of the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder is functional, if unremarkable, ensuring the powder stays intact and making it suitable for travel.

Before diving deeper into this product, I want to share my personal experience. I needed to attend a wedding and was running late when I couldn’t find my usual under-eye setting powder. I spotted the Rimmel powder and decided to use it for my under-eye area. To my dismay, after about three to four hours at the venue, I checked my reflection only to be horrified at how it accentuated my already dry under-eyes, making fine lines appear even more pronounced.
Months later, during summer, I gave the powder another chance since my T-zone tends to get oily when it’s hot. Unfortunately, it still left my skin looking flaky and too dry, resulting in a caked-on effect. As a result, I’ve chosen to pass it on to a friend, as it may perform better for those with oily skin. For those with dry skin, however, this product could be a disaster and is not something I would recommend.

The powder’s texture is quite fine, though it doesn’t create excessive fallout and stays well inside the pan. However, the shade selection leaves much to be desired, with only six shades available and none suitable for deeper skin tones. The shade I tried is Warm Beige, which aligns well with my typical warm beige preferences, but it appears to be more suited for those with skin tones around NC20-25.
It’s unclear whether this product contains SPF, but it does tend to give a grayish tint in flash photography. The coverage is satisfactory, allowing for effective setting of makeup. Its dryness can be beneficial for those with oily skin, helping to maintain a matte finish without the need for frequent touch-ups. Additionally, it has a subtle yellow undertone, which may appeal to individuals with similar undertones.

You may find it suitable if:
Your skin is very oily
You aim to achieve a long-lasting matte finish
You prefer budget-friendly options
The available shades complement your skin
You may not enjoy it if:
Your skin is dry
You dislike products that mattify
The shade selection does not meet your needs
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder is accessible at various stores that stock Rimmel products, priced at around £4.
