Earlier this year, I gave this face wash a try and felt compelled to share my thoughts. This wasn’t out of admiration but rather disappointment, as it’s the first The Body Shop product I find unfavorable. The enticing label ‘Cool & Creamy’ piqued my interest when I first spotted it in stores, perhaps influenced by my love for their Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash, which is my top pick.
I eventually bought it, taking advantage of a promotional offer, and alongside it, grabbed the Tea Tree Squeaky Clean Scrub. I should have considered the sales associate’s hesitance about my choice, as she recommended the Vitamin C Face Polish instead. Nevertheless, I opted for this face wash and was let down right from the first use.
Packaged in a 100 ml tube with a flip-top lid, the face wash’s design is typical of many TBS products, making it somewhat cumbersome to handle. This creamy formulation lacks lather and has a scent reminiscent of tea tree oil, which I found pleasant; however, it might not appeal to everyone.
Initially, the product left a weighty residue on my oily-combination skin. It was expected to feel lightweight, yet its thick creaminess felt overwhelming, failing to impart any cleansing effect. The cooling sensation is minimal and only apparent if massaged for over two minutes, and even then, it dissipates within ten minutes. It neither deters blemishes nor keeps my skin feeling fresh or matte. After using this face wash, my skin felt grimy and congested, with leftover makeup residue still visible.
As with all The Body Shop products, this face wash carries a steep price tag. For me, this was not worth the expenditure, and it stands as one of my regrettable purchases. In contrast, the Squeaky Clean Scrub has proven to be a gem, and I highly recommend it, as it functions more effectively as a daily cleanser than a traditional exfoliating scrub.
